Facebook Planning To Take Over OperaMay 26 | Posted by umar | News Tags: facebook browser, facebook overtakes opera, opera
Facebook Browser Will Integrate Facebook Into Your Online Life
According to a report by Pocket-lint, Facebook is planning to buy the most famous browser on mobile devices i.e. Opera. Facebook browser will allow its users to integrate their online lives with their facebook profiles. If it’s true it will be facebook’s latest attempt to get into the mobile sector as Opera is still the most famous browser on mobile devices. According to the report Facebook Browser will have in-built plug-ins and features on the menu bar to infiltrate into Facebook Users general web experience.
Facebook browser will certainly help the social networking giant to become a part of the users web experience as well as to compete with its rival, Google. Google Chrome is the most famous browser on the internet but it’s social network is still struggling against facebook. Though it will hardly affect the growth in Google Chrome’s popularity but guys at Google will be looking more closely at every move that facebook will make.
Facebook IPO has netted the company $16 billion recently, so it has loads of cash to spend on its expansion. Facebook bought Instagram last month, which is a popular photo sharing services for mobile users. It was also rumored a while ago that facebook is working on Facebook search engine. So it is clear that facebook is looking to expand through providing other web based services to its users using the cash they have at the moment. And it’s a well timed rumor with all the complaining about the stock offering too.
But why Opera? They could’ve bought Rockmelt which already integrates facebook and many other social networking services to general browsing experience. I guess facebook is more interested in Opera’s user base on mobile devices than any other feature in a browser.
Will there be a facebook browser? More importantly will it do any good to facebook?
